Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 2.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which rose 3.50% or 0.60 points to trade at 17.75 at the close. Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) added 1.31% or 0.37 points to end at 28.64 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) was up 1.00% or 0.22 points to 22.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4), which lost 5.74% or 0.56 points to trade at 9.19 in late trade. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 5.32% or 0.24 points to end at 4.27 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) shed 4.74% or 1.88 points to 37.75.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 237 to 109 and 20 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 12.70% to 36.12 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.28% or 16.35 to $1289.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.21% or 0.10 to hit $46.76 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.40% or 2.29 to trade at $161.48 .
USD/BRL was up 1.51% to 3.2374, while EUR/BRL rose 2.20% to 3.5794.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.57% at 97.76.
