Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Real Estate and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.55%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which rose 6.55% or 0.83 points to trade at 13.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) added 4.28% or 0.47 points to end at 11.46 and Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) was up 3.57% or 1.93 points to 56.03 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which fell 6.00% or 0.25 points to trade at 3.92 at the close. CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) declined 5.28% or 0.77 points to end at 13.80 and ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) was down 5.06% or 0.49 points to 9.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 198 to 94 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) fell to 3-years lows; falling 5.28% or 0.77 to 13.80.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.42% to 38.95.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.02% or 0.20 to $1088.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $44.78 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.17% or 1.48 to trade at $124.22 .
USD/BRL was up 1.22% to 3.5309, while EUR/BRL rose 1.41% to 3.8579.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 97.89.
