Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Software sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Basic Resources, Utilities and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.12%, while the MDAX index declined 0.01%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn), which rose 2.93% or 0.440 points to trade at 15.435 at the close. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) added 2.61% or 1.650 points to end at 64.770 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 2.33% or 0.69 points to 30.32 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which lost 5.31% or 1.030 points to trade at 18.360 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) declined 2.57% or 0.305 points to end at 11.575 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) shed 1.16% or 0.082 points to 6.999.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which rose 2.24% to 27.350, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was up 2.08% to settle at 34.915 and Rhoen-Klinikum O.N. (DE:RHKG) which gained 2.05% to close at 27.405.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which was down 6.15% to 27.320 in late trade, Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which lost 5.76% to settle at 48.385 and Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was down 4.52% to 29.335 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which rose 4.86% to 45.300, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was up 3.34% to settle at 30.620 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which gained 3.10% to close at 46.500.
The worst performers were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was down 6.05% to 7.780 in late trade, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which lost 3.23% to settle at 4.017 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 1.62% to 24.22 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 524 to 361 and 31 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.31% to 22.31.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 2.30% or 29.80 to $1264.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.55% or 1.14 to hit $43.52 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 3.44% or 1.56 to trade at $43.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.1404, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.7913.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 94.04.
