Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.99% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL), which rose 7.64% or 1.760 points to trade at 24.800 at the close. MVideo (MCX:MVID) added 3.66% or 12.60 points to end at 356.70 and Magnit (MCX:MGNT) was up 3.21% or 329.0 points to 10589.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG), which lost 1.14% or 10.5 points to trade at 908.0 in late trade. MiMES Rostelekom OAO Pref (MCX:RTKM_p) declined 1.01% or 0.65 points to end at 63.40 and E.ON Rossiya OAO (MCX:UPRO) shed 0.62% or 0.0180 points to 2.8740.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 131 to 88 and 21 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.04% to 28.110.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.19% or 2.55 to $1343.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.87% or 1.41 to hit $47.70 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.91% or 1.48 to trade at $49.40 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.21% to 64.6793, while EUR/RUB rose 1.18% to 73.214.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 94.53.
