Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Utilities, Basic Resources and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.43% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index lost 1.33%, and the TecDAX index declined 2.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (DE:HNKG), which rose 0.80% or 0.800 points to trade at 100.300 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) fell 0.07% or 0.050 points to end at 72.670 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was down 0.14% or 0.090 points to 62.360 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which lost 5.13% or 0.640 points to trade at 11.845 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) declined 2.88% or 0.390 points to end at 13.160 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) shed 2.61% or 0.295 points to 10.995.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which rose 2.80% to 9.56, Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which was up 2.13% to settle at 26.105 and Airbus Group (F:AIRG) which gained 0.35% to close at 50.867.
The worst performers were Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was down 4.44% to 78.570 in late trade, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which lost 4.20% to settle at 4.93 and Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which was down 3.35% to 102.450 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 2.47% to 45.260, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was up 1.15% to settle at 8.262 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which gained 0.26% to close at 5.330.
The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 7.32% to 39.295 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 4.33% to settle at 25.060 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 4.29% to 25.850 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 739 to 148 and 22 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 28.22 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.14% or 1.85 to $1285.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.21% or 0.59 to hit $48.29 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.51% or 0.76 to trade at $49.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.74% to 1.1208, while EUR/GBP rose 0.11% to 0.7932.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.60% at 94.99.
