Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Power, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 1.29% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI), which rose 9.11% or 0.0448 points to trade at 0.5367 at the close. Akron (MCX:AKRN) added 4.72% or 170.0 points to end at 3770.0 and United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) was up 4.62% or 1.110 points to 25.160 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p), which lost 6.24% or 11900 points to trade at 178800 in late trade. GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR) declined 2.54% or 0.0176 points to end at 0.6750 and Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) shed 1.26% or 1.13 points to 88.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 130 to 84 and 29 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.46% to 42.620.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 1.07% or 13.10 to $1233.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 2.96% or 0.97 to hit $33.75 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 3.13% or 1.11 to trade at $36.55 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.52% to 75.0320, while EUR/RUB fell 2.22% to 81.516.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 98.31.
