Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3), which rose 6.00% or 0.36 points to trade at 6.36 at the close. Vale SA Pref (SA:VALE5) added 5.87% or 1.49 points to end at 26.86 and Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) was up 5.44% or 1.01 points to 19.58 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3), which lost 5.58% or 1.82 points to trade at 30.78 in late trade. RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3) declined 1.81% or 0.16 points to end at 8.69 and Banco Bradesco SA Pref (SA:BBDC4) shed 1.74% or 0.55 points to 31.14.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 216 to 123 and 34 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.17% to 35.64.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.03% or 0.40 to $1283.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.37% or 0.19 to hit $50.66 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 4.37% or 6.14 to trade at $134.38 .
USD/BRL was up 0.14% to 3.1573, while EUR/BRL rose 0.25% to 3.3851.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 99.70.
