Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Beverage sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 fell 1.13%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Vodafone Group PLC (LONDON:VOD), which rose 2.80% or 6.50 points to trade at 238.45 at the close. Meanwhile, RSA Insurance Group PLC (LONDON:RSA) added 1.82% or 8.100 points to end at 452.100 and Land Securities Group PLC (LONDON:LAND) was up 0.93% or 12.00 points to 1297.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Antofagasta PLC (LONDON:ANTO), which fell 6.29% or 39.50 points to trade at 589.00 at the close. Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN) declined 4.50% or 9.90 points to end at 210.15 and BHP Billiton PLC (LONDON:BLT) was down 3.81% or 44.50 points to 1123.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1815 to 722 and 500 ended unchanged.

Gold for August delivery was down 0.91% or 10.00 to $1084.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.03% or 0.50 to hit $47.95 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.55% or 0.85 to trade at $54.41 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.01% to 1.5512, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.7073.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 97.41.
