Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which rose 3.24% or 0.760 points to trade at 24.190 at the close. FSK EES (MCX:FEES) added 2.33% or 0.0056 points to end at 0.2480 and MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) was up 2.16% or 214.0 points to 10136.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which lost 3.07% or 5.50 points to trade at 173.50 in late trade. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 2.27% or 0.950 points to end at 40.950 and Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) shed 1.60% or 15.30 points to 940.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 122 to 96 and 22 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.17% to 22.750.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.22% or 2.75 to $1234.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.00% or 1.06 to hit $51.95 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.63% or 0.91 to trade at $54.81 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.71% to 59.3232, while EUR/RUB rose 0.12% to 63.446.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 100.31.
