Investing.com - U.S. stock index futures were trading steady in early APAC deals on Tuesday, following a volatile session that saw major benchmark indices snap a recent losing streak to close higher.
During regular trading on Monday, the Dow gained 99.13 points or 0.29% to 34364.51 snapping six consecutive sessions of decline. The S&P 500 advanced 12.19 points or 0.28% to 4410.14, its first positive session in five, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 86.21 points or 0.63% to 13855.13.
Dow Jones Futures lost 0.16%, S&P 500 Futures were down 0.28% and Nasdaq 100 Futures lost 0.49%.
Among stocks, heavyweight technology companies recovered from heavy losses as Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) added 1.33%, Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:FB) gained 1.83%, Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) lifted 0.35% and Adobe Systems Incorporated (NASDAQ:ADBE) added 3.95%. Meantime, Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:NFLX) lost 2.6%, Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:AMD) fell 1.92%, Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) lost 0.49% and Block Inc (NYSE:SQ) dipped 0.68%.
International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM) also dipped 0.41% after releasing its Q4 earnings report, noting that revenue surpassed expectations, climbing 6%.
EV manufacturers lost ground with Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) down 1.47% and Rivian Automotive Inc (NASDAQ:RIVN) falling 0.95%.
Major financial companies also registered losses with Bank of America Corp (NYSE:BAC) down 0.82%, Citigroup Inc (NYSE:C) falling 0.9%, Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC) dipping 0.65% and Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) losing 0.79%, while Citizens Financial Group Inc (NYSE:CFG) added 0.95%.
On the policy front, the Federal Reserve Open Market Committee is set begin its two-day meeting on Tuesday, with an interest rate decision slated for Wednesday as investors look for clues as to when the Fed will begin its proposed interest rate hikes and quantitative tightening.
On the bond markets, United States 10-Year yields were steady at 1.776%.
Market participants will also be monitoring more earnings reports on Tuesday before the market opens, including Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), 3M Company (NYSE:MMM), General Electric Company (NYSE:GE), American Express Company (NYSE:AXP) and Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ), while Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Texas Instruments Incorporated (NASDAQ:TXN) will report earnings after the market closes.
