Investing.com – U.S. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Healthcare, Oil & Gas and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.16%, while the S&P 500 index declined 0.20%, and the NASDAQ Composite index lost 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were 3M Company (NYSE:MMM), which rose 1.18% or 1.13 points to trade at 97.08 at the close. The Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE:TRV) added 0.56% or 1.00 points to end at 178.54 and Walmart Inc (NYSE:WMT) was up 0.44% or 0.69 points to 156.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA), which lost 3.55% or 0.74 points to trade at 20.11 in late trade. Dow Inc (NYSE:DOW) declined 1.06% or 0.55 points to end at 51.12 and Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) shed 0.94% or 0.90 points to 95.16.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Domino’s Pizza Inc (NYSE:DPZ) which rose 4.49% to 386.93, International Paper (NYSE:IP) which was up 3.64% to settle at 34.13 and Crown Castle International Corp (NYSE:CCI) which gained 3.45% to close at 107.15.
The worst performers were Albemarle Corp (NYSE:ALB) which was down 6.18% to 120.90 in late trade, Illumina Inc (NASDAQ:ILMN) which lost 3.75% to settle at 94.65 and Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA) which was down 3.55% to 20.11 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Redhill Biopharma Ltd (NASDAQ:RDHL) which rose 216.96% to 1.00, Biodexa Pharmaceuticals PLC DRC (NASDAQ:BDRX) which was up 91.03% to settle at 5.11 and Asset Entities Inc (NASDAQ:ASST) which gained 88.89% to close at 0.66.
The worst performers were Impel Neuropharma Inc (NASDAQ:IMPL) which was down 29.02% to 0.60 in late trade, TC BioPharm Holdings PLC (NASDAQ:TCBP) which lost 25.52% to settle at 0.42 and BioNexus Gene Lab Corp (NASDAQ:BGLC) which was down 22.23% to 0.70 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1698 to 1204 and 80 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2236 fell and 1277 advanced, while 100 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 1.85% to 12.69.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.57% or 11.45 to $2,014.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.73% or 0.55 to hit $74.99 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.61% or 0.49 to trade at $79.99 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.13% to 1.10, while USD/JPY fell 0.52% to 148.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 103.12.
