Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transport, Banking and Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General added 0.28%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Dubai National Insurance (DU:DNIN), which rose 8.37% or 0.220 points to trade at 2.850 at the close. Meanwhile, Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) added 5.49% or 0.052 points to end at 1.000 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) was up 4.43% or 0.027 points to 0.637 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dubai Investments PJSC (DU:DINV), which fell 2.68% or 0.080 points to trade at 2.910 at the close. AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) declined 1.52% or 0.030 points to end at 1.940 and Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) was down 1.24% or 0.030 points to 2.380.
The top performers on the ADX General were Natl Co Bldg M (AD:BILD) which rose 9.52% to 0.690, Methaq (AD:METH) which was up 6.78% to settle at 1.260 and National Corp Tourism Hotels (AD:NCTH) which gained 6.74% to close at 4.91.
The worst performers were Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was down 10.00% to 7.20 in late trade, Abu Dhabi National Hotels Co (AD:ADNH) which lost 3.33% to settle at 2.90 and Union Cement (AD:UCC) which was down 3.23% to 1.20 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 16 to 13; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 16 rose and 14 declined, while 3 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.64% or 0.31 to $49.10 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.93% or 0.49 to hit $53.88 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.04% or 0.40 to trade at $1092.90 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.61% to 4.0106.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.49% at 97.70.
