Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Insurance, Banking and Real Estate & Construction sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Consumer Staples, Transport and Finance & Investment sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 0.19%, while the ADX General index fell 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which rose 3.39% or 0.060 points to trade at 1.830 at the close. Takaful House (DU:DTKF) added 3.06% or 0.020 points to end at 0.674 and Dubai Islamic Bank (DU:DISB) was up 1.42% or 0.070 points to 5.010 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DXB Entertainments (P.J.S.C.) (DU:DXBE), which lost 4.94% or 0.019 points to trade at 0.366 in late trade. Air Arabia PJSC (DU:AIRA) declined 3.85% or 0.040 points to end at 1.000 and Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) shed 3.27% or 0.070 points to 2.070.
The top performers on the ADX General were Abu Dhabi National Hotels Co (AD:ADNH) which rose 9.56% to 2.75, Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was up 8.70% to settle at 0.750 and Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which gained 1.67% to close at 0.6100.
The worst performers were Nat Bk Qaiwain (AD:NBQ) which was down 9.83% to 2.66 in late trade, Foodco Holding PJSC (AD:FOOD) which lost 5.41% to settle at 3.50 and Methaq (AD:METH) which was down 4.88% to 0.780 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 18 to 17 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 15 fell and 6 advanced, while 8 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.46% or 0.96 to $64.75 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.54% or 1.15 to hit $73.59 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.77% or 9.80 to trade at $1264.70 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED fell 0.32% to 4.2385.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 95.03.
