Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Insurance, Finance & Investment and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Real Estate & Construction, Transport and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.65%, while the ADX General index gained 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which rose 3.81% or 0.02 points to trade at 0.60 at the close. Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) added 3.63% or 0.070 points to end at 2.000 and Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) was up 3.46% or 0.090 points to 2.690 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commercial Bank of Dubai P.S.C. (DU:CBD), which lost 1.20% or 0.050 points to trade at 4.100 in late trade. ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) declined 0.91% or 0.040 points to end at 4.350 and Emaar Development PJSC (DU:EMAARDEV) shed 0.70% or 0.040 points to 5.670.
The top performers on the ADX General were Insurance Hous (AD:IH) which rose 14.10% to 0.890, Nat Bk Qaiwain (AD:NBQ) which was up 9.09% to settle at 3.00 and Eshraq Properties Co PJSC (AD:ESHR) which gained 1.30% to close at 0.7800.
The worst performers were Union Cement (AD:UCC) which was down 9.55% to 1.610 in late trade, Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which lost 5.13% to settle at 0.740 and Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was down 3.77% to 2.040 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 23 to 9 and 7 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 12 fell and 11 advanced, while 10 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.41% or 0.26 to $63.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.42% or 0.29 to hit $69.32 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.32% or 4.20 to trade at $1336.10 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.10% to 4.4990.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 90.22.
