Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Insurance, Real Estate & Construction and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Banking, Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.29%, while the ADX General index added 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were National General Insurance Co PSC (DU:NGIN), which rose 10.00% or 0.20 points to trade at 2.20 at the close. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) added 2.81% or 0.020 points to end at 0.732 and Emaar Development PJSC (DU:EMAARDEV) was up 2.47% or 0.130 points to 5.390 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dubai Islamic Bank (DU:DISB), which lost 2.51% or 0.140 points to trade at 5.440 in late trade. Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) declined 1.71% or 0.040 points to end at 2.300 and Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA) shed 2.60% or 0.01 points to 0.53.
The top performers on the ADX General were Fujairah Cement Industries Co PSC (AD:FCI) which rose 14.74% to 1.090, Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was up 6.58% to settle at 0.810 and Eshraq Properties Co PJSC (AD:ESHR) which gained 2.86% to close at 0.7200.
The worst performers were Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which was down 10.00% to 3.420 in late trade, Gulf Medical Projects Co PSC (AD:GMPC) which lost 10.00% to settle at 1.80 and Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was down 3.85% to 0.250 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 20 to 17 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 16 fell and 10 advanced, while 8 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.43% or 0.27 to $62.14 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.32% or 0.21 to hit $66.00 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.12% or 1.60 to trade at $1310.70 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED rose 0.03% to 4.5150.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 89.75.
