Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Informa PLC (LON:INF), which rose 2.46% or 19.80 points to trade at 825.40 at the close. Smurfit Kappa Group PLC (LON:SKG) added 1.69% or 58.00 points to end at 3,492.00 and Weir Group PLC (LON:WEIR) was up 1.66% or 32.50 points to 1,986.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which lost 5.34% or 103.40 points to trade at 1,833.60 in late trade. NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG) declined 5.06% or 12.80 points to end at 240.00 and Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) shed 3.69% or 32.60 points to 850.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 929 to 816 and 702 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.79% or 17.15 to $2,163.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 2.35% or 1.87 to hit $81.59 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.92% or 1.61 to trade at $85.64 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.33% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.20% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.53% at 102.94.
