Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Mobile Telecommunications, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Beazley PLC (LON:BEZG), which rose 2.97% or 19.50 points to trade at 676.50 at the close. British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) added 2.50% or 58.50 points to end at 2,399.00 and Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT) was up 1.98% or 89.00 points to 4,575.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Phoenix Group Holdings PLC (LON:PHNX), which lost 4.50% or 22.70 points to trade at 481.70 in late trade. Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) declined 3.61% or 2.52 points to end at 67.33 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) shed 3.59% or 3.90 points to 104.65.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 952 to 780 and 716 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.11% or 2.30 to $2,163.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.69% or 1.36 to hit $81.94 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.52% or 1.30 to trade at $86.64 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.09% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 103.21.
