Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Machinery and Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp (TW:2609), which rose 9.99% or 0.76 points to trade at 8.37 at the close. Genesis Photonics Inc (TW:3383) added 9.76% or 0.20 points to end at 2.25 and Casetek Holdings Ltd (TW:5264) was up 8.23% or 3.80 points to 50.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fortune Information Systems Corp (TW:2468), which lost 9.89% or 1.35 points to trade at 12.30 in late trade. Tatung Co (TW:2371) declined 9.82% or 4.05 points to end at 37.20 and Taiwan Prosperity Chemical Corp (TW:4725) shed 9.55% or 2.85 points to 27.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 457 to 340 and 101 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.03% or 0.02 to $69.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.02% or 0.02 to hit $80.03 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.43% or 5.30 to trade at $1222.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.26% to 30.965, while TWD/CNY rose 0.04% to 0.2235.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 95.45.
