Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.19% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Shih Wei (TW:5608), which rose 9.93% or 0.85 points to trade at 9.41 at the close. China Wire&Cab (TW:1603) added 9.93% or 1.50 points to end at 16.60 and U-Ming Marine (TW:2606) was up 9.87% or 2.30 points to 25.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sunrace (TW:1526), which lost 9.29% or 1.30 points to trade at 12.70 in late trade. Action Eltr (TW:3024) declined 8.94% or 0.710 points to end at 7.230 and Ennoconn (TW:6414) shed 6.64% or 28.50 points to 401.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 435 to 342 and 91 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.12% or 0.05 to $43.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.07% or 0.03 to hit $44.78 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.47% or 5.75 to trade at $1218.55 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.41% to 31.957, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2131.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.57% at 99.55.
