Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Rubber, Semiconductor and Textile sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.93%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Candmark (TW:5259), which rose 9.91% or 0.21 points to trade at 2.33 at the close. Favite (TW:3535) added 9.85% or 1.35 points to end at 15.05 and Aoc (TW:6289) was up 9.82% or 0.110 points to 1.230 in late trade.
Biggest losers included China Tv (TW:9928), which lost 6.50% or 0.39 points to trade at 5.61 in late trade. Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424) declined 4.32% or 1.15 points to end at 25.45 and Choice Develop (TW:9929) shed 3.64% or 0.40 points to 10.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 513 to 214 and 126 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.74% or 0.37 to $49.51 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.70% or 0.36 to hit $50.96 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.61% or 8.05 to trade at $1318.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.20% to 32.275, while TWD/CNY fell 0.10% to 0.2058.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 95.79.
