Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Glass, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Machinery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Candmark (TW:5259), which rose 10.00% or 0.11 points to trade at 1.21 at the close. Gamma Optical (TW:3557) added 10.00% or 0.300 points to end at 3.300 and Hannstar Touch (TW:3049) was up 9.98% or 0.57 points to 6.28 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Choice Develop (TW:9929), which lost 4.35% or 0.50 points to trade at 11.00 in late trade. Evertex (TW:1470) declined 4.29% or 0.80 points to end at 17.85 and Long Da (TW:5519) shed 3.60% or 0.40 points to 10.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 455 to 269 and 131 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.76% or 0.38 to $49.58 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.95% or 0.48 to hit $50.17 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.44% or 5.65 to trade at $1286.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.03% to 32.265, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.2039.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 93.59.
