Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Optoelectronic and Machinery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.83%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Airtac International Group (TW:1590), which rose 9.93% or 29.00 points to trade at 321.00 at the close. RichWave Technology Corp (TW:4968) added 9.85% or 4.50 points to end at 50.20 and Leadtek Research Inc (TW:2465) was up 9.66% or 1.00 points to 11.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unimicron Technology Corp (TW:3037), which lost 9.82% or 2.40 points to trade at 22.05 in late trade. Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519) declined 5.14% or 0.13 points to end at 2.40 and Nan Ya Printed Circuit Board Corp (TW:8046) shed 4.83% or 1.70 points to 33.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 662 to 161 and 92 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 1.23% or 0.61 to $50.39 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 1.12% or 0.66 to hit $59.38 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.17% or 2.15 to trade at $1283.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.06% to 30.819, while TWD/CNY fell 0.04% to 0.2219.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 95.360.
