Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Machinery and Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Airtac International Group (TW:1590), which rose 10.00% or 43.00 points to trade at 473.00 at the close. Faraday Technology Corp (TW:3035) added 9.99% or 6.80 points to end at 74.90 and SDI Corp (TW:2351) was up 9.99% or 6.70 points to 73.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sun Yad Construction Co Ltd (TW:1316), which lost 8.13% or 1.70 points to trade at 19.20 in late trade. JSL Construction & Development Co Ltd (TW:2540) declined 7.53% or 1.80 points to end at 22.10 and Jinan Acetate Chemical Co Ltd (TW:4763) shed 7.00% or 10.50 points to 139.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 718 to 133 and 62 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.79% or 0.50 to $63.89 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.85% or 0.57 to hit $67.43 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.21% or 2.80 to trade at $1332.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.00% to 29.208, while TWD/CNY fell 0.37% to 0.2134.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 89.47.
