Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Semiconductor and Cement sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.85% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Darwin Precisions Corp (TW:6120), which rose 9.94% or 4.05 points to trade at 44.80 at the close. Teapo Electronic Corp (TW:2375) added 9.93% or 4.45 points to end at 49.25 and Copartner Technology Corp (TW:3550) was up 9.91% or 2.30 points to 25.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chang Type Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1541), which lost 6.86% or 3.25 points to trade at 44.10 in late trade. Kung Sing Engineering Corp (TW:5521) declined 5.97% or 1.00 points to end at 15.75 and Genesis Photonics Inc (TW:3383) shed 5.67% or 0.19 points to 3.16.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 452 to 323 and 108 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.07% or 0.04 to $60.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $66.58 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1315.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.19% to 29.569, while TWD/CNY rose 0.14% to 0.2200.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 91.54.
