Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Machinery and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Kinko Optical Co Ltd (TW:6209), which rose 9.99% or 4.45 points to trade at 49.00 at the close. Calin Technology Co Ltd (TW:4976) added 9.96% or 4.00 points to end at 44.15 and Lingsen Precision Industries Ltd (TW:2369) was up 9.73% or 1.60 points to 18.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tung Kai Technology Engineering Co Ltd (TW:3018), which lost 10.00% or 7.70 points to trade at 69.30 in late trade. VIA Technologies Inc (TW:2388) declined 5.17% or 0.60 points to end at 11.00 and HTC Corp (TW:2498) shed 5.13% or 4.00 points to 74.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 554 to 185 and 131 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.75% or 0.39 to $52.27 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.59% or 0.34 to hit $58.26 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.48% or 6.30 to trade at $1295.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.35% to 30.325, while TWD/CNY fell 0.27% to 0.2189.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 93.06.
