Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Glass, Machinery and Biotech & Medical Care sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were VIA Technologies Inc (TW:2388), which rose 9.96% or 2.80 points to trade at 30.90 at the close. Leadtek Research Inc (TW:2465) added 9.95% or 2.15 points to end at 23.75 and Walsin Technology Corp (TW:2492) was up 9.94% or 17.00 points to 188.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kung Sing Engineering Corp (TW:5521), which lost 6.47% or 0.90 points to trade at 13.00 in late trade. Flexium Interconnect Inc (TW:6269) declined 6.15% or 5.20 points to end at 79.40 and Maxigen Biotech Inc (TW:1783) shed 6.08% or 2.20 points to 34.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 529 to 259 and 123 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.16% or 0.11 to $68.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.28% or 0.21 to hit $74.53 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.04% or 0.50 to trade at $1317.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.12% to 29.622, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2121.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 91.46.
