Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Auto, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.54% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Silergy Corp (TW:6415), which rose 10.00% or 42.00 points to trade at 462.00 at the close. Taiwan Surface Mounting Technology Corp (TW:6278) added 9.97% or 3.75 points to end at 41.35 and Ene Technology Inc (TW:6243) was up 9.92% or 0.88 points to 9.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BizLink Holding Inc (TW:3665), which lost 8.47% or 18.00 points to trade at 194.50 in late trade. Eurocharm Holdings Co Ltd (TW:5288) declined 6.15% or 8.00 points to end at 122.00 and Daxin Materials Corp (TW:5234) shed 5.67% or 5.30 points to 88.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 461 to 308 and 149 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.31% or 0.17 to $54.21 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.26% or 0.16 to hit $62.86 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.03% or 0.35 to trade at $1282.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.02% to 30.858, while TWD/CNY rose 0.36% to 0.2202.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 95.910.
