Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Rubber, Optoelectronic and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.52% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Phytohealth (TW:4108), which rose 9.99% or 3.65 points to trade at 40.20 at the close. Prime Eltrs (TW:6152) added 9.96% or 0.89 points to end at 9.83 and L&K Eng (TW:6139) was up 9.91% or 2.90 points to 32.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shuttle (TW:2405), which lost 8.32% or 0.89 points to trade at 9.81 in late trade. Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906) declined 7.36% or 1.10 points to end at 13.85 and Favite (TW:3535) shed 6.60% or 0.69 points to 9.76.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 429 to 319 and 100 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 2.17% or 0.82 to $38.66 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 1.77% or 0.71 to hit $40.76 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.02% or 0.20 to trade at $1273.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.91% to 32.775, while TWD/CNY fell 0.30% to 0.2011.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 96.25.
