Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Communication and Internet and Electronic Parts/Components sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Formosa Sumco (TW:3532), which rose 9.89% or 4.20 points to trade at 46.65 at the close. Genius (TW:3406) added 9.89% or 7.40 points to end at 82.20 and Onano (TW:6405) was up 9.86% or 1.40 points to 15.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Transasia (TW:6702), which lost 10.00% or 0.52 points to trade at 4.68 in late trade. Genesis Photon (TW:3383) declined 9.74% or 0.26 points to end at 2.41 and Tai-I (TW:1613) shed 9.73% or 0.250 points to 2.320.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 382 to 366 and 125 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.31% or 0.15 to $47.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.31% or 0.15 to hit $48.97 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.14% or 1.65 to trade at $1212.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.23% to 31.863, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2164.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 101.01.
