Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Rubber, Semiconductor and Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were VIA Technologies Inc (TW:2388), which rose 10.00% or 1.60 points to trade at 17.60 at the close. Sun Yad Construction Co Ltd (TW:1316) added 10.00% or 1.75 points to end at 19.25 and APCB Inc (TW:6108) was up 9.98% or 2.35 points to 25.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526), which lost 7.36% or 5.80 points to trade at 73.00 in late trade. Taiwan Prosperity Chemical Corp (TW:4725) declined 6.99% or 1.90 points to end at 25.30 and Test Research Inc (TW:3030) shed 6.73% or 3.70 points to 51.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 535 to 279 and 98 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 1.15% or 0.68 to $59.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 1.02% or 0.64 to hit $63.43 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.72% or 9.50 to trade at $1325.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.03% to 29.311, while TWD/CNY rose 0.42% to 0.2153.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 90.03.
