Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Semiconductor and Machinery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519), which rose 9.91% or 0.22 points to trade at 2.44 at the close. Favite Inc (TW:3535) added 9.84% or 1.55 points to end at 17.30 and Taiwan Paiho Ltd (TW:9938) was up 9.36% or 5.00 points to 58.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Silergy Corp (TW:6415), which lost 7.77% or 37.50 points to trade at 445.00 in late trade. Bonny Worldwide Ltd (TW:8467) declined 5.88% or 1.90 points to end at 30.40 and Chainqui Construction Development Co Ltd (TW:2509) shed 5.84% or 1.80 points to 29.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 485 to 302 and 131 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.11% or 0.06 to $52.53 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.26% or 0.16 to hit $61.52 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.38% or 4.95 to trade at $1292.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.05% to 30.802, while TWD/CNY fell 0.41% to 0.2194.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 95.002.
