Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Machinery and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Alchip Technologies Ltd (TW:3661), which rose 10.00% or 10.50 points to trade at 115.50 at the close. Min Aik Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:4545) added 9.99% or 3.75 points to end at 41.30 and Advanced Power Electronics Corp (TW:8261) was up 9.96% or 2.55 points to 28.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AOPEN Inc (TW:3046), which lost 4.19% or 0.18 points to trade at 4.12 in late trade. Gamma Optical Co Ltd (TW:3557) declined 4.03% or 0.500 points to end at 11.900 and Formosa Oilseed Processing Co Ltd (TW:1225) shed 3.39% or 2.30 points to 65.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 420 to 334 and 115 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.04% or 0.02 to $52.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $58.19 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.08% or 1.00 to trade at $1282.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.09% to 30.227, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2202.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 93.20.
