Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Electricity, Rubber and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Maxigen Biotech Inc (TW:1783), which rose 10.00% or 2.15 points to trade at 23.65 at the close. Lingsen Precision Industries Ltd (TW:2369) added 9.93% or 0.89 points to end at 9.85 and Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526) was up 9.92% or 3.75 points to 41.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gold Circuit Electronics Ltd (TW:2368), which lost 5.47% or 0.70 points to trade at 12.10 in late trade. Leofoo Development Co Ltd (TW:2705) declined 5.29% or 0.38 points to end at 6.80 and Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) shed 5.11% or 0.60 points to 11.15.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 433 to 358 and 113 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.32% or 0.16 to $50.47 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.14% or 0.08 to hit $59.01 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.32% or 3.90 to trade at $1231.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.11% to 30.793, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2268.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 96.625.
