Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Financial Services & Real Estate and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 1.00%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Telefonica (MC:TEF), which rose 2.47% or 0.183 points to trade at 7.588 at the close. Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) added 2.27% or 0.084 points to end at 3.790 and Gas Natural SDG SA (MC:GAS) was up 2.15% or 0.480 points to 22.800 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Melia Hotels (MC:MEL), which lost 1.43% or 0.170 points to trade at 11.700 in late trade. Indra A (MC:IDR) declined 0.97% or 0.100 points to end at 10.160 and ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS) shed 0.82% or 0.200 points to 24.300.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 113 to 62 and 25 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.44% or 5.50 to $1259.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.11% or 0.08 to hit $74.22 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.35% or 0.27 to trade at $78.03 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.02% to 1.1660, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8817.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 94.25.
