Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Power, Oil & Gas and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 1.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 1.77% or 3.30 points to trade at 189.30 at the close. Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) added 1.48% or 11.50 points to end at 786.50 and Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) was up 1.30% or 3.50 points to 272.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MosEnrg (MCX:MSNG), which lost 4.94% or 0.1165 points to trade at 2.2440 in late trade. Gazprom PAO (MCX:GAZP) declined 3.91% or 5.17 points to end at 126.90 and Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) shed 3.83% or 0.0348 points to 0.8730.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 139 to 74 and 17 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.33% to 24.080.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.44% or 5.56 to $1253.14 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.84% or 0.41 to hit $49.48 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.80% or 0.42 to trade at $52.63 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.86% to 57.5900, while EUR/RUB rose 1.12% to 64.040.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 97.51.
