Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Mining, Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were VTB (MCX:VTBR), which rose 1.25% or 0.0008 points to trade at 0.0649 at the close. MTS (MCX:MTSS) added 0.97% or 2.25 points to end at 233.25 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) was up 0.94% or 2.00 points to 214.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG), which lost 3.74% or 31.0 points to trade at 797.0 in late trade. MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) declined 3.26% or 283.0 points to end at 8410.0 and NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) shed 2.29% or 2.90 points to 123.85.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 105 to 98 and 19 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 3.88% to 21.050.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.31% or 3.91 to $1245.91 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.38% or 0.18 to hit $47.14 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.22% or 0.11 to trade at $49.59 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.25% to 58.8470, while EUR/RUB rose 0.65% to 68.4710.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.61% at 94.06.
