Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia added 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which rose 7.90% or 10.50 points to trade at 143.40 at the close. PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) added 3.84% or 94.0 points to end at 2543.0 and NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) was up 3.58% or 4.80 points to 138.76 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yevroplan PAO (MCX:EPLN), which lost 6.11% or 44.0 points to trade at 676.0 in late trade. NMTP (MCX:NMTP) declined 3.05% or 0.2500 points to end at 7.9500 and Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) shed 2.49% or 17 points to 666.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 128 to 83 and 23 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 4.24% to 18.920.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.13% or 1.70 to $1266.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.46% or 1.42 to hit $56.20 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 2.12% or 1.33 to trade at $61.53 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.77% to 59.1875, while EUR/RUB rose 0.43% to 69.7699.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 93.59.
