Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 1.24% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which rose 0.43% or 0.0002 points to trade at 0.0467 at the close. Meanwhile, Teixeira Duarte (LS:TDSA) added 0.25% or 0.0010 points to end at 0.3960 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) was down 0.09% or 0.0080 points to 9.0620 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banif SA (LS:BANIF), which fell 7.41% or 0.0002 points to trade at 0.0025 at the close. Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP) declined 4.37% or 0.4290 points to end at 9.3970 and Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) was down 3.92% or 0.0150 points to 0.3680.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 41 to 11 and 3 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for January delivery was down 2.77% or 1.29 to $45.32 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.84% or 1.22 to hit $41.71 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.45% or 4.90 to trade at $1080.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.43% to 1.0790, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.7090.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 98.77.
