Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods & Services, Telecoms Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 1.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO), which rose 0.40% or 0.060 points to trade at 15.010 at the close. Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEGACPO) added 0.37% or 0.300 points to end at 80.900 and Banregio Grupo Financiero SAB De CV (MX:GFREGIOO) was down 0.06% or 0.07 points to 109.06 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (MX:LABB), which lost 5.19% or 1.120 points to trade at 20.480 in late trade. Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALSEA) declined 4.00% or 2.620 points to end at 62.880 and Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA) shed 3.88% or 26.92 points to 666.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 154 to 126 and 9 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.28% or 3.70 to $1317.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.83% or 0.52 to hit $63.48 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.01% or 0.01 to trade at $69.08 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.02% to 19.2937, while EUR/MXN rose 0.01% to 23.0489.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 92.11.
