Mexico shares lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 0.71%

Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms Services, Materials and Financial Services sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC lost 0.71%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALFAA), which rose 3.36% or 0.760 points to trade at 23.370 at the close. PINFRA SAB De CV (MX:PINFRA) added 3.07% or 5.55 points to end at 186.62 and Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (MX:LABB) was up 1.91% or 0.370 points to 19.700 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico SAB de CV Class B (MX:BSMXB), which lost 3.25% or 0.860 points to trade at 25.580 in late trade. Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (MX:FMSAUBD) declined 2.58% or 4.46 points to end at 168.69 and Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO) shed 2.32% or 0.310 points to 13.070.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 144 to 134 and 20 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.27% or 3.60 to $1314.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.72% or 1.05 to hit $62.24 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.55% or 1.01 to trade at $66.13 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.06% to 18.6898, while EUR/MXN fell 0.11% to 22.9772.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 90.17.
