Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financial Services, Consumer Goods & Services and Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC added 0.39% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Banregio Grupo Financiero SAB De CV (MX:GFREGIOO), which rose 3.12% or 3.36 points to trade at 110.92 at the close. Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (MX:GFINBURO) added 2.78% or 0.840 points to end at 31.010 and Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA) was up 2.59% or 9.69 points to 384.04 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:BIMBOA), which lost 2.10% or 1.010 points to trade at 47.020 in late trade. Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA) declined 1.49% or 0.310 points to end at 20.430 and Grupo Televisa SA (MX:TLVACPO) shed 1.06% or 1.05 points to 97.85.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 157 to 120 and 9 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.32% or 3.95 to $1245.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.71% or 0.34 to hit $47.70 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.22% or 0.11 to trade at $50.53 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.52% to 18.9261, while EUR/MXN fell 0.58% to 20.4170.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 99.54.
