Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financial Services, Telecoms Services and Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 0.79%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO), which rose 3.76% or 0.460 points to trade at 12.700 at the close. Gentera SAB de CV (MX:GENTERA) added 3.53% or 0.570 points to end at 16.740 and Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico SAB de CV Class B (MX:BSMXB) was up 3.17% or 0.880 points to 28.650 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which lost 3.69% or 19.81 points to trade at 516.34 in late trade. GMexico Transportes SA de CV (MX:GMXT) declined 3.56% or 0.990 points to end at 26.840 and Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1) shed 1.62% or 1.080 points to 65.390.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 229 to 73 and 13 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.12% or 1.60 to $1304.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.49% or 0.32 to hit $66.06 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.13% or 0.10 to trade at $76.36 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 1.45% to 20.5844, while EUR/MXN rose 1.60% to 24.2612.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 93.57.
