Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Transport, Marine Transport and Warehousing sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Kansai Electric Power Co Inc (TYO:9503), which rose 4.98% or 119.00 points to trade at 2,510.00 at the close. Sumitomo Corp. (TYO:8053) added 4.37% or 180.00 points to end at 4,300.00 and J.Front Retailing Co., Ltd. (TYO:3086) was up 3.68% or 50.50 points to 1,422.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:4506), which lost 6.75% or 27.00 points to trade at 373.00 in late trade. CyberAgent Inc (TYO:4751) declined 4.09% or 40.20 points to end at 942.20 and Mazda Motor Corp (TYO:7261) shed 3.24% or 58.00 points to 1,730.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.63% to 19.91.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.68% or 0.53 to $78.64 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.61% or 0.51 to hit $83.47 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.60% or 13.75 to trade at $2,322.35 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.54% to 153.80, while EUR/JPY rose 0.51% to 165.51.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 105.03.
