Investing.com – India equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Metals, Oil & Gas and Banking sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Power, Real Estate and Consumer Durables sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.02%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which rose 3.80% or 47.80 points to trade at 1307.40 at the close. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) added 1.18% or 1.85 points to end at 159.05 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) was up 1.69% or 4.50 points to 271.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC), which lost 4.10% or 6.45 points to trade at 151.00 in late trade. Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) declined 2.92% or 23.95 points to end at 796.95 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) shed 2.68% or 26.60 points to 964.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which rose 1.78% to 271.45, Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which was up 1.53% to settle at 397.50 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which gained 1.49% to close at 534.55.
The worst performers were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 4.01% to 150.95 in late trade, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 2.59% to settle at 531.85 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.49% to 175.30 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 866 to 740 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1329 rose and 1215 declined, while 141 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.09% to 12.2075.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.38% or 4.60 to $1230.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.15% or 0.10 to hit $68.42 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.50% or 0.37 to trade at $73.81 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.09% to 68.745, while EUR/INR fell 0.26% to 80.3620.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 94.28.
