Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Banking, Consumer Durables and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 1.23%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 1.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 0.98% or 1.25 points to trade at 129.55 at the close. Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) added 0.85% or 6.70 points to end at 793.45 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) was up 0.86% or 17.75 points to 2079.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which lost 8.13% or 21.65 points to trade at 245.25 in late trade. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) declined 6.42% or 16.15 points to end at 236.85 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) shed 4.03% or 167.20 points to 3979.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 1.03% to 2080.00, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 0.99% to settle at 793.25 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which gained 0.84% to close at 707.90.
The worst performers were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 3.46% to 1560.10 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which lost 3.17% to settle at 413.75 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was down 2.79% to 1188.95 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1024 to 547 and 64 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1549 fell and 936 advanced, while 225 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.69% to 17.5800 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.14% or 2.05 to $1515.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.17% or 0.09 to hit $52.36 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.31% or 0.18 to trade at $57.89 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.07% to 70.972, while EUR/INR rose 0.11% to 77.9555.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 98.472.
