Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, Healthcare and Auto sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.89%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which rose 2.58% or 10.15 points to trade at 404.00 at the close. Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) added 1.23% or 11.90 points to end at 981.25 and Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) was up 0.58% or 1.65 points to 288.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which lost 8.62% or 35.85 points to trade at 380.20 in late trade. Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv) declined 8.59% or 20.80 points to end at 221.45 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) shed 5.07% or 103.90 points to 1944.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 1.35% to 982.50, Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was up 0.44% to settle at 288.00 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 0.37% to close at 2511.25.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 8.60% to 380.90 in late trade, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which lost 4.77% to settle at 1948.95 and Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which was down 3.39% to 368.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1422 to 129 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2154 fell and 340 advanced, while 106 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.60% to 13.8025 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.52% or 6.60 to $1285.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.54% or 0.27 to hit $49.83 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.80% or 0.42 to trade at $53.12 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.23% to 64.045, while EUR/INR fell 0.10% to 75.0153.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 93.61.
