Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Capital Goods, Metals and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.53%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 5.83% or 10.75 points to trade at 195.35 at the close. Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) added 2.60% or 17.80 points to end at 701.90 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was up 1.60% or 7.10 points to 450.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR), which lost 4.93% or 16.20 points to trade at 312.55 in late trade. GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) declined 3.96% or 13.40 points to end at 324.90 and Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) shed 3.27% or 26.70 points to 790.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 6.22% to 195.40, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 2.52% to settle at 700.90 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 1.68% to close at 450.65.
The worst performers were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 2.64% to 1334.00 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 2.07% to settle at 1484.05 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which was down 1.78% to 193.05 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1014 to 571 and 67 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1450 fell and 1004 advanced, while 157 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.24% to 16.1575.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.40% or 5.15 to $1294.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.86% or 0.96 to hit $50.63 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.65% or 1.00 to trade at $59.48 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.54% to 70.765, while EUR/INR rose 0.46% to 81.0915.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 95.257.
