Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Banking and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.47%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS), which rose 2.34% or 35.30 points to trade at 1,547.00 at the close. Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) added 1.66% or 59.40 points to end at 3,628.20 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) was up 1.64% or 41.80 points to 2,595.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL), which lost 1.99% or 25.10 points to trade at 1,233.50 in late trade. ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) declined 1.89% or 17.20 points to end at 890.85 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) shed 1.75% or 30.75 points to 1,722.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which rose 2.21% to 1,548.45, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 1.77% to settle at 2,597.95 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which gained 1.03% to close at 6,575.00.
The worst performers were ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was down 1.74% to 890.95 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which lost 1.56% to settle at 806.70 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which was down 1.44% to 2,636.65 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1230 to 673 and 48 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2120 rose and 1243 declined, while 130 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.37% to 14.87.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.19% or 3.40 to $1,822.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $78.39 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.10 to trade at $83.56 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.05% to 82.71, while EUR/INR rose 0.07% to 88.29.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 103.53.
