Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Durables, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.38%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 2.99% or 10.00 points to trade at 343.80 at the close. Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) added 1.76% or 3.95 points to end at 229.45 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was up 2.00% or 4.70 points to 239.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which lost 4.28% or 12.15 points to trade at 271.35 in late trade. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) declined 2.72% or 44.95 points to end at 1611.70 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) shed 3.07% or 15.15 points to 482.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 2.93% to 343.90, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which was up 2.27% to settle at 229.55 and Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which gained 1.53% to close at 378.45.
The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 2.45% to 1611.00 in late trade, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which lost 1.68% to settle at 1238.55 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.36% to 372.60 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1082 to 544 and 38 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1655 fell and 999 advanced, while 155 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.96% to 13.6500.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.07% or 0.80 to $1199.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.37% or 0.96 to hit $68.91 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.07% or 0.84 to trade at $77.33 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.56% to 71.736, while EUR/INR rose 0.24% to 83.1120.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 95.40.
