Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, IT and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.23%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which rose 4.06% or 15.55 points to trade at 398.80 at the close. Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) added 2.48% or 72.25 points to end at 2,987.90 and Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT) was up 0.54% or 27.75 points to 5,166.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS), which lost 1.22% or 19.50 points to trade at 1,581.00 in late trade. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 0.88% or 11.70 points to end at 1,316.25 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) shed 0.85% or 27.05 points to 3,138.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which unchanged 0.00% to 3,140.35, Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was unchanged 0.00% to settle at 1,117.65 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which unchanged 0.00% to close at 7,301.35.
The worst performers were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was unchanged 0.00% to 3,140.35 in late trade, Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which unchanged 0.00% to settle at 1,117.65 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was unchanged 0.00% to 7,301.35 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 0 fell and 0 advanced on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 13.80.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.19% or 3.85 to $2,025.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.18% or 0.13 to hit $73.38 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.13% or 0.10 to trade at $78.66 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.01% to 83.13, while EUR/INR fell 0.06% to 90.53.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 103.04.
